400 Push Ups

Goal of 500 push ups. Only hit 400 and quit since I remembered I want to go swimming tomorrow early. Started sets when on landing waiting for Phin to go to sleep. Sets with 2 min rest between quickly peaked at about 13 per set. Then went downstairs and watched TV/folded clothes and did more sets during commercial breaks.

Short run down to Safeway

Short run to stay loose and ‘train up’ to Seattle half on Sunday. Felt good and was able to hold a sub 10 pace for most of it on the flats. Walked a bit up the hill and a few times when I wanted a rest but mostly felt pretty good. Didn’t log HR.

Masters Tue Swim with Mark

Warmed up for about 200 m then did 4 sets of 100 easy, 75 build, 50 hard, 25 all out. Was ave about 1:35 for the 100’s, 1:08 for the 75’s, forgot the 50’s, maybe 48? and 19 for the 25’s. Then did a little ‘push off the wall and see how far you can glide’ drill which I did miserably at followed by a no-kick see how few strokes you can take drill! 13! HA Some people could do it in 5!! Oh well.

Didn’t feel like I had my edurance back yet but was pretty satisfied overall with what I did.

First long run back after re-aggravating herniated disc on 11/6. Felt good. Did 10:1 run walk with Cindy, Sonja and Sean.

Re-tweeked my herniated disc in my low back on Friday. Been pretty useless all day today. No long run for me tomorrow.

Tues Swim with Mark

Dana, Laurie (?) and a new guy, Jorge and I swam Marks workout. Warm up was 100 ea Kick, Pull, Swim, Pull then main set of Free (suppose to be Fly! right!!) 25 EZ, 50 Build, 25 hard then repeat distances and effort with Backstroke, Breast and Free. Then repeat whole set 2 more times. I didn’t do the Fly cause I can’t and my Breast stroke is all wrong! And we changed the last set for time by dropping the middle 50. Overall not too crazy hard of a workout and I felt good.

Blood sugar was a bit high, 220, when I started and because we weren’t going to hard only got down to 160 at the end.

first barefoot treadmill run

Tried a short run on the treadmill barefoot. Nice easy, light pace. Went 1.5 miles total. Towards the end I could feel I wasn’t quite as light’ on my feet and therefore not landing on my midfoot as much as I was in the beginning but rather a bit more towards my heal. Overall I did feel like it helped with reminding me to keep good form and I can see how it would also help to stregthen ones feet and ankles.
